Hot Tub in Hell Valley !!

The best thing to do on a cold day with falling snowflakes is to get into a true blue Japanese hot bath like this one, outdoors and open to the sky. Most hotels and ryokans in Yudanaka and Shibu Onsens have at least one such “must have” facility on their premises, usually on the basement storey and or rooftop. To get into such an outdoor hot bath is a very cold adventure in itself good for another post.

Snow  monkeys seem to prefer facing the hot bath edge and hanging onto it by their hands. Very very different from what most humans prefer which is to lean against the hot bath sides.

Here’s one lucky snow monkey on an underwater seat, with no one to bother him

They do this a lot, snow monkeys and grooming that is, and in a hot bath or on the bath edges. A very good reason to get out of the hot water once in a while I suppose. Besides having tasty fleas snacks.

But for young ones like this one, the water may be too hot or too cold.

I really enjoyed reading this article, and found it quite informative. And especially the part about the popularity of the hot tubs. Thanks for sharing! I generally prefer hot tubs to hot tubs and would recommend it to all.
