The good room

Had the Japanese style room which meant sleeping on mattresses on the floor. Mattresses were comfy despite thinness. But it was a problem getting up off the floor for us oldies. So we switched to a Western style room which had regular beds. Getting off the beds was so much easier than up off mattresses on the floor!

Other plus points for Western style rooms : you can sit or lie down on your beds any time (Japanese style room mattresses are put away when you go for breakfast); you have a place to lay out your clothes when making up your mind what to wear for the day; you can lay out stuff for sorting when packing up your luggage bags. Best is you don't need someone to pull you up off the mattress on waking up in the morning!

One half of the room was a Japanese style living room (photo above) with its own room heater, and an electric table cloth!

Clothes closet above room safe, and fridge in cupboard with fancy door. Fridge auto-locks every morning at 7am (for stock taking and replenishment) and is unlocked when we come back after brekky.

No balcony; space gained for luggage bags etc.

Tiny entry foyer (above) had a sink and bathroom on one side and the toilet and shoe racks on the other. But it was so much more convenient leaving footwear on the floor.

Wash basin in a little nook, off which hides a big "double" bath bathroom.

Whole bathroom was taken up by a prefab bath tub (a shortish long bath sort of) and an ablution tub in which one sits on a stool, shampoos, soaps, scrubs and showers clean before getting into the bath to soak. I want such a bathroom, man.

The toilet or what is usually known as the "washlet" is a typical Japanese toilet with bidet spray and ass spray with controls for water volume, temperature, and sounds or music, combined with a little handwash sink.
